Dr Aisha Bin Bishr is a leading light in Dubai’s public sector, having held senior positions in a number of Dubai government entities.

In her current role as the director general of the Smart Dubai Office, and in previous roles with the Executive Office, Dr Bin Bishr has played a central role in the incubation and development of Dubai’s smart city strategic and goals.

Dr Bin Bishr has over 20 year’s experience in ICT development in the public sector, including positions with the Ministry of Labour, and as the Assistant Director General of the Executive Office, where she was selected to lead the Smart Dubai Taskforce. As head of the taskforce, Dr Bin Bishr oversaw the Smart Dubai Initiative from its formation in March 2014 until it transformed into the Smart Dubai Office.

The SDO today under Dr Bin Bishr’s leadership is responsible for all of Dubai’s smart city initiatives, along with supporting technology and infrastructure development. The organisation has become a pioneer not just in developing a smart city platform, but in co-ordination and planning across many different areas, and driving new programs in areas such as city data, blockchain and city platforms.

Dr Bin Bishr is also a regular participant in international conferences and events, presenting Dubai’s vision for a smart future on a global stage and engaging with other world class organisations and think-tanks.
