The Telecoms Regulatory Authority (TRA) has a much wider remit than as just a regulator, so it is fitting that Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, as Director General also has a wide-ranging role.

As head of the TRA, Al Mansoori is responsible for a large proportion of the central planning, regulation and management for ICT and telecoms for the UAE. The TRA frequently represents the interests of the nation on international bodies such as the ITU and GSMA, and through its ICT Fund, the TRA supports initiatives in education, R&D, incubation and national projects.

Al Mansoori has also held roles with a wide range of government organisations before his appointment to lead the TRA in 2015. He was previously Director General of UAE mGovernment from 2014, and Deputy Director General for Information & eGovernment Sector since May 2013. He has also held technology-related roles with Dubai Police, General Directorate of Residence and Foreign Affairs, the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, and the Public Prosecutor's Office.
