His Highness Sheikh Khalid Al Qassimi, Director General, Sharjah Department of e-Government is in overall charge of the DeG’s mission to transforming Sharjah's government sector with the introduction of online and smart services, while supporting the emirate's socioeconomic development.

Under HH Sheikh Khalid Al-Qassimi’s leadership, DeG is playing a key role in the digitalisation strategy for the Emirate of Sharjah, through a number of different initiatives.

The DeG is responsible for supporting all government entities in Sharjah in their adoption of new technology, and as part of that directive, Sharjah Department of eGovernment has created a number shared solutions and services that provide the basis for technology transformation in other government departments. These shared projects include the Sharjah Services Government Portal (SSGP), which offers a range of cloud-based services to departments; and Zajel secure government communications system, which has improved communications among government agencies.

The DeG also supports the development of innovation and technology adoption in the Emirate through programs such as innovation week, and has also developed its own mobile games, which are intended to raise awareness of social issues.
