Smart Dubai Government Establishment can be regarded as the technology arm of Smart Dubai, according to Wesam Lootah, Chief Executive Officer of SDGE. With responsibility for the services and infrastructure that underpin many of Smart Dubai’s projects, SDGE is the powerhouse that is delivering on Dubai’s digital transformation.

Lootah, who is also assistant director general of Smart Dubai Office, has previously held roles in both the public and private sector, including DWTC and Emaar Properties.

SDGE is responsible for designing, building, and managing services and supporting technology in four main areas, including digital government services, shared services, ICT infrastructure and service enablement.

Among the key projects for SDGE are the Smart Dubai Platform, the central operating system for smart city applications deployed by the government; and the Dubai Now app, an app which has been conceived to become the single point of delivery for all government services.

SDGE is supporting the development of emerging technologies which will underpin future initiatives, such as blockchain and AI.
